CLEVELAND, Ga. (September 29, 2021) - The Truett McConnell University men's soccer team competed against Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent, Bryan University, Wednesday night inside the TMU Soccer/Lacrosse Complex. The Bears fought until the final minute, but fell short 3-2. The Lions rose to a record of 3-4, 2-1 AAC, while the Bears fell to a record of 2-4-2, 1-4 AAC.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first period, the Lions were hot out of the gates, scoring the first goal of the evening at the one-minute mark (1-0). The Bears did not waver as
Javier Morales took a shot on goal, followed by
Jez Walker-Patterson who took a shot of his own. The Bears were resilient on offense, but the Lions were capable of scoring a second goal in the 20th and 29th minutes (3-0). The Bears continued to strike with a shot from
Daniel Martin and a blocked shot from
Jacob Rolon.

In the second period, the Lions continued to be aggressive on offense. Shots from
Ivan Serubiri,
Francisco Murdoch and
Callum Smith gave the Bears the momentum they needed to reduce the lead to two in the 79th minute, after a penalty kick by Smith resulted in the first goal of the night for TMU (3-1). The Bears fought until the final minute of the game, where another penalty kick from Smith ultimately left TMU one away from bridging the gap (3-2).

LEADERS
Smith led the way by scoring TMU's two goals of the night, along with recording four shots, two on-goal.
Aidan Tustin, Morales and Serubiri had two shots apiece, while Murdoch and Lima had a shot on goal apiece. Goalies
Chandler Bond and
Riley Powers each individually tallied one save on the night.
