TMU records 51 shots against Royals, extends win streak to three

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (September 22, 2021) – On Wednesday, the Truett McConnell University women's soccer team proved unstoppable as they extended their win streak to five, after besting Appalachian Athletic Conference member, Johnson University, with a final score of 16-1. The Lady Bears recorded 51 shots, 31 on goal, opposed to Johnson's one shot on goal. TMU improved to a record of 6-1, 3-0 AAC, while Johnson fell to a record of 2-3-1, 0-2-1 AAC.

PLAY-BY-PLAY

The first goal of the half was recorded in the 11th minute, when a ball from Kristin Beasley found the foot of Eliska Dvorakova to make the score 1-0. Sydney League increased the score with a goal of her own in the 15th minute (2-0), followed by a Beasley goal in the 16th minute to total a score of 3-0. Hannah Logue found the back of the net off an assist from Dvorakova, while Dvorakova followed up with her second goal of the day (5-0). In the 37th and 40th minute, TMU added two more points to the score from individual goals by Kayla Boggess and Lindsey Fowler to end the half (7-0).

The second half saw the Lady Bears with even more momentum, as Logue recorded her second goal of the game within the first three minutes, immediately followed by a Sydney League goal to make the score 9-0. TMU collected three more goals, along with a penalty kick shot by Fowler to increase the lead to 12. Johnson was capable of hitting the board in the 70th minute, but the game was ultimately clinched by the Lady Bears, who remained resilient on offense and defense, with a final score of 16-1.

LEADERS

Three Lady Bears were seen earning a hat trick of three goals. Fowler led the way with three goals, five shots and one assist, while Logue had three goals, four shots and one assist. League had three goals of her own with four shots, followed by Dvorakova who had two goals, seven shots, five on goal and one assist. Boggess tallied two goals with four shots on goal, while Natalie Alamri had one goal with seven shots, four on goal. Beasley had one goal and one assist, Amayia Lukie had one goal and Ruffa Meger and Ashley McCown had one assist apiece.

The Lady Bears are back inside the TMU Soccer/Lacrosse Complex this Saturday, Sept. 25, where they will face Columbia International University. Kickoff at 4:00 p.m.
