CLEVELAND, Ga. (Apr. 3, 2021) – The Truett McConnell University women's lacrosse team hosted the reigning NAIA National Champions and Appalachian Athletic Conference foe, No. 1 SCAD-Savannah, on Saturday morning at the TMU Soccer/Lacrosse Complex. The Lady Bears battled but ultimately fell 24-9, which put TMU at 3-4, 3-4 AAC on the season, while the Bees improved to 4-1, 4-1 AAC.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
The Bees quickly got up on the board first within the first 15 seconds of the game (0-1), but the Lady Bears responded with back-to-back unassisted goals from Hope Foster and Cameron Lee to gain their first and only lead on the day (2-1). SCAD scored two of their own within one minute of each other to take the steal for good (2-3). After the Bees pulled ahead by 10 to put the running clock into play (6-16), Hope Foster won the draw, which then allowed Lee to earn a free position shot to ultimately assist Hope in another TMU goal six seconds before the half to minimize the deficit to nine (7-16).
The Lady Bears came out from halftime taking three shots, to SCAD's zero, within the first two minutes of the second half but remained scoreless. The Bees scored their 17th goal four minutes in (7-17) to permanently lead the rest of the way by double figures resulting in a final score of 24-9.
LEADERS
Overall, the Lady Bears were outshot by 16 (42-26). SCAD also earned 18 draw controls to TMU's 16. TMU was individually led by Hope Foster who had five goals and 11 shots, eight on target. Foster also had five draw controls and three ground balls. Carter Culverhouse led with seven draw controls, four ground balls and two assists. Holly Foster took six shots, with four on goal. Culverhouse and Samantha Camp added three shots apiece.
