MONTREAT, N.C. (Apr. 10, 2021) – The Truett McConnell University women's lacrosse team traveled to Montreat College on Saturday to wrap up their regular season with an Appalachian Athletic Conference win over the Cavs (15-14). The Lady Bears finished 4-4, 4-4 AAC, while the Cavs fell to 5-8, 2-6 AAC.

It only took just over a minute for Sophie Beach to net the first goal for the Lady Bears (1-0) after a draw control by Cameron Lee. Three minutes later, Hope Foster scored again for TMU off of a free position shot (2-0). Holly Foster scored another less than two minutes later (3-0) before Montreat scored their first goal 20 seconds later (3-1). Beach fueled another 3-0 scoring run for the Lady Bears (6-1) before the Cavs inched in by two (7-5). Both teams scored once more before halftime to put the Lady Bears at a two-goal advantage (8-6).

The Cavs went on to outscore in the second half (7-8), although it proved not enough in the end. Montreat opened the second half with a three-goal frenzy to take the lead (8-9), but it was short lived as Carter Culverhouse tied it up with an unassisted goal of her own (9-9). Samantha Camp put the Lady Bears out front again (10-9) but once again, Montreat matched it (10-10). One man up, Hope Foster fired the go-ahead goal (11-10). Culverhouse scored another on a free position shot (12-10), Lee scored an assisted goal by Holly Foster (13-10), Beach scored an assisted goal from Lee (14-10) and Hope Foster capped off the Lady Bears' scoring with her sixth goal of the game (15-10). The final 11 minutes of regulation saw the Cavs rally to score four unanswered goals to get within one of TMU with 18 seconds remaining (15-14), but it was not enough as TMU ultimately clinched the win by a slim margin.
