Men’s volleyball falls to Knights for second time

CLEVELAND, Ga. (Mar. 13, 2021) – For the second time this season, the Truett McConnell University men's volleyball team came up short against Mid-South opponent St. Andrews University. The Bears fell in three straight to the Knights on Saturday afternoon inside the TMU Volleyball/Wrestling Arena (25-14, 25-15, 25-8), which put TMU at 0-9, 0-9 MSC and the Knights at 6-6, 5-4 MSC on the year.

Both teams were neck and neck until the Knights went on a 4-0 run that allowed them to push a lead as big as seven and the Bears were unable to get out front as SAU took set one on a crucial attacking error call that took away what would have been an Ethan Conners kill (14-25). Similar to game one, both teams were battling it out until SAU went on a couple of key 4-0 runs in route to take their second set of the day (15-25). The Bears dug themselves too big of a hole at the start of game three (0-11), which proved to put the match out of reach as SAU claimed their second sweep over the Bears (8-25).

Wensky Saintilmond led the Bears with 11 assists and six digs, while Conners also had six digs. Ryan Stokes led with four kills, while Brice Dollar had three, and Jackson Adams and Kaleb Mitchell added two apiece. Kyle Trammell led defensively with three blocks, while Stokes had two block assists.

Up next, the Bears will host Webber International University on Thursday, March 18, at 7:00 p.m., and Warner University on Saturday, March 20, at 2:00 p.m.
