Lady Bears fall to No. 6 Reinhardt

CLEVELAND, Ga. (Mar. 10, 2021) – For the first time this season, the Truett McConnell University women's lacrosse team suffered a loss on Wednesday evening against Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent No. 6 Reinhardt University at the TMU Soccer/Lacrosse Complex. The Lady Bears fell to 2-1, 2-1 AAC on the season, while the Eagles won their first game of the season (1-1, 1-0 AAC).
 
PLAY-BY-PLAY
The Eagles started off hot scoring seven unanswered goals in the first seven minutes of the game (0-7). Hope Foster was capable of finding the back of the net for her first goal of the evening to make it 1-7 and although Reinhardt added another in response (1-8), Sophie Beach capitalized on a free position shot to score TMU's second goal (2-8). Fellow sophomore Carter Culverhouse also scored on a free position shot 47 seconds before halftime (3-15) to cut TMU's deficit to 12.
 
The Foster twins went on to combine for a total of three more goals for the Lady Bears in the second half, however, the Eagles proved to put the game out of reach as TMU was handed their first loss of the season (6-22).
 
LEADERS
Overall, the Lady Bears were outshot 38-14 and the Eagles tallied a total of 27 ground balls, while TMU had 10. Individually, Holly Foster led the way with two goals, four shots on goal, four ground balls and three draw controls. Holly was also credited an assist.  Hope followed with two goals, four shots, with two on target, and four draw controls. Culverhouse led with five draw controls, while adding three shots on goal and one goal. Skylar Sewell tallied a total of nine saves on the night in the sophomore's first loss of the year.

The Lady Bears will hit the road on Wednesday, March 17, for Tennessee Wesleyan University for a game time of 3:00 p.m.
