Lady Bears drop home finale

CLEVELAND, Ga. (Feb. 16, 2021) – The Truett McConnell University women's basketball team concluded their home season Tuesday, inside the Benjamin F. Brady Arena, where they competed against Appalachian Athletic Conference competitor Reinhardt University and fell to a final score of 82-62. The Lady Bears are now sitting at a season record of 11-13, 8-13 AAC, while the Eagles rose to a record of 10-5, 10-5 AAC, extending their win streak to three.

PLAY BY PLAY
Both teams were neck and neck the entire first quarter, capable of making the score even on numerous occasions, while the Eagles managed to take a shot in the final minute to secure the lead into the second quarter (18-16). Reinhardt came out hot in quarter two with a five-point run to put TMU down by seven (23-16), but a Re'Tavia Floyd 3-pointer lessened the lead (23-19). The Lady Bears fell farther behind as Reinhardt gained momentum, ending the half with a score of 40-32. 

The third quarter saw the Lady Bears working hard on defense, having to recover from a few strong runs from the visiting team, and entering the final quarter down 59-42, ultimately falling to a final score of 82-62. 

BY THE NUMBERS
Floyd led the way with 22 points, while senior Sierra Kendall followed with a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds, along with a single game season high of nine blocks. Junior Aisya Davis had 14 points of her own, followed by fellow junior Quan Holton who tallied six rebounds.

UP NEXT
The Lady Bears will conclude their 2021 regular season Wednesday, Feb. 17, where they will face Columbia International University in an AAC showdown, with a tipoff at 5:00 p.m.
