COLUMBIA, S.C. (October 13, 2021) - The Truett McConnell University men's soccer traveled Wednesday to face Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent Columbia College, where the Bears won in dominating fashion with a final score of 9-0. TMU improved  to a record of 4-6-2, 3-6 AAC, while the Koalas fell to a record of 2-9, 1-8 AAC.Â

The Bears showed up firing on all cylinders. Francisco Murdoch shot the first goal of the day in the first four minutes of the period one (1-0). TMU had three shot on goals from Callum Smith, Lucan Yates and Oscar Brennan. In the 17th minute, Jose Ventura, assisted by Hendrik Metjie, shot the second goal of the day (2-0), with the final goal of the half off the foot of  Ivan Serubiri, assisted by Smith, in the 44th minute (3-0).Â

The Bears entered the second period aggressive, continuing to put pressure on the home team's defense. Ventura had the first goal of the second period, assisted by Caleb Rolon, in the 46th minute (4-0). Hebert Lima and Javier Morales individually recorded a goal of their own, while Vernazza tallied two goals to make the score 8-0. The final goal of the afternoon came from Vernazza in the 78th minute to seal the victory over the Fighting Koalas (9-0).
LEADERS
Vernazza led offensively with three a hat trick of three goals and four shots on goal, followed by Ventura who had six shots, four on goal and two goals. Smith recorded nine shots, five on goal and one assist. Serubiri, Murdoch and Morales had a goal apiece. Goalies Chandler Bond and Riley Powers individually recorded a single save.
