Lady Bears pick up back-to-back AAC wins

CLEVELAND, Ga. (Jan. 19, 2021) – After a big Appalachian Athletic Conference win over the weekend, the Truett McConnell University women's basketball team picked up another win over Milligan University (70-67) inside the Benjamin F. Brady Arena on Tuesday evening. The Lady Bears improved to 7-10, 4-10 AAC on the season, while the Buffs fell to 5-11, 5-7 AAC. Most notable, this is the third time in program history that TMU has defeated the Buffaloes.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
A pair of Re'Tavia Floyd 3-pointers within 20 seconds of each other highlighted the first quarter (21-16) for TMU. Although Milligan held Truett scoreless the first five minutes of the second, a Sierra Kendall bucket in the paint sparked a 11-0 scoring run for the Lady Bears, which put them ahead by 10 (38-28). TMU, in fact, held a double figure lead at the half (40-30).

The Lady Bears went on to get out front by as much as 15 in the third (49-34), but Milligan battled in the end to come in from behind. Truett led by 11 with four minutes to go in the game (64-53), but the Buffs fought to get back within two points on a 3-pointer with eight seconds to go (69-67). Nonetheless, Sydney Rumble added another point for TMU on the scoreboard from the free throw line (70-67) and the Buffs were ultimately unable to answer.
