Men's soccer loses at Point

WEST POINT, Ga. (Sept. 30, 2020) – The Truett McConnell University men's soccer team traveled to Point University Wednesday to compete in their third game of the season. After a hard fought first period of the Bears being down 1-0, the Skyhawks put the game out of reach in the second period by scoring twice more to make it a final score of 3-0.

Both teams came out strong in the first period, almost equally matched in shots (3-5) and corner kicks (1-3). In fact, the Bears kept the Skyhawks scoreless for the first 36 minutes of the game (0-1). TMU tallied four more shots and three corner kicks in the second half but fell behind after two more goals were scored by the home team in the 46th and 86th minutes.

Junior Trevor Fick lead alongside freshman Tristan Cheves with two shots apiece and one on goal, while freshman Lucan Yates added a shot on target of his own. Junior goalie David Windmiller compiled a total of seven saves on the night, two in the first period and five in the second.

The Bears hit the road next as they head to Bryan College on Oct. 3, for game time at 2:00 p.m.
