Sydney League found the back of the net to clinch the 2-1 win over the Eagles in the first overtime period, which moved the Lady Bears to 1-0-1 on the year.
PLAY BY PLAY
While both teams accounted for a total of seven shots throughout the first half, the Eagles were capable of scoring first within the first 13 minutes to lead by one at halftime (0-1). However, it only took two minutes into the second half for League to cross the ball into the box and allow sophomore
Ashley McCown to tie it up with her first TMU career goal (1-1).
Although the Eagles managed to outshoot by three the rest of the second half, sophomore
Ashleigh Smitherman had a notable shot that bounced off the crossbar.
Overtime saw the Eagles take the first two shots; however, it was sophomore
Madison Wright's through ball to League in the 98th minute that sealed the deal (2-1).
LEADERS
League and McCown led the way with three shots apiece, while Smitherman and freshman
Natalie Alamri each followed with two.
Tori Wilson and
Nadia Basto added one shot apiece.
Freshman
Addy Galason earned her first career win in the goal with six saves.
