CLEVELAND, Ga. (Sept. 19, 2020) – After a thrilling season opening win on Tuesday, the Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team hosted Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Bryan College on Saturday for senior day. TMU fell by a slim margin in game one (23-25), but it was only up from there as the Lions claimed sets two and three (20-25, 24-26) to secure the AAC sweep.
SET BY SET
Despite the sweep, both teams were neck and neck throughout the entire match. The Lady Bears were capable of getting head by four (13-9) on a 5-0 scoring run in in game one, however, a handful of TMU attacking errors allowed the Lions to take the first set at the end (23-25). The second set saw Bryan carry over the momentum to lead the rest of the way after 2-2. The Lions recorded three back to back kills to win their second set of the day (20-25), but TMU would fight back in the third.
A Bethany Ross kill sparked a strong 6-0 run for the Lady Bears to start the third set, and TMU pushed to lead by as many as seven (12-5), but Bryan went on a 6-0 run themselves to get right back into the game. At 19-19, TMU pulled away with by four (23-19) but the Lions ultimately rallied back to fasten the sweep in extra points (24-26).
