WALESKA, Ga. (Sept. 22, 2020) – The Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team hit the road for the first time this season on Tuesday evening for Reinhardt University, the reigning Appalachian Athletic Conference champions. The Lady Bears lost their second straight match in three sets against the Eagles (16-25, 15-25, 9-25).
After both teams went head to head, the Eagles used a 4-0 scoring run to get out front by six (17-11) and TMU was ultimately unable to catch up as Reinhardt sealed the first win of the night (16-25). The Eagles started off the second set on a strong 6-1 scoring run and the Lady Bears were only capable of getting as close as four points the rest of the way. Down 2-1 in the match, TMU was only allowed nine points in the third set as Reinhardt fastened their second AAC win of the season (9-25).
Senior Abby Maxwell recorded her third straight double-double of 17 assists and 10 digs, while freshman Sonya Silecky led the offense with five kills and senior Hannah Conners led the defense with 15 digs.
Up next, TMU is back on the road for Columbia International University on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 6:30 p.m., before returning home on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 11:00 p.m., when they host Brenau University.
