GRAYSON, Ky. (Feb. 22, 2020) – The Truett McConnell University women's basketball team traveled to Appalachian Athletic Conference foe, Kentucky Christian University, for their regular season finale on Saturday. The Lady Bears fell to the Knights 93-83 to finish the season with an overall record of 14-16, 9-15 AAC, while the Knights improved to 16-14, 13-11 AAC. The loss put the Lady Bears as the No. 9 seed in the AAC tournament and the win confirmed KCU as the No. 5 seed.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
The home team came out hot in the first quarter to score double the amount of TMU (12-24) and the closest the Lady Bears got to the Knights in the second quarter was by nine as KCU pushed to lead by 17 at the half (32-49). However, the Lady Bears rallied to only be outscored by two in the third quarter but really picked up the pace in the fourth.
A Re'Tavia Floyd and-1 on a 3-pointer brought TMU back within single digits (81-87) with 1:29 to go in regulation. In fact, the Lady Bears outscored the Knights 27-18 in the final 10 minutes of regulation but it proved not enough as KCU made six back to back free throws to ultimately seal the deal.
LEADERS
Floyd led the way with an impressive career high of 32 points and added four assists. Junior Sierra Kendall followed with 13 points, six rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks. Sophomore Camilla Howell added 11 points and fellow sophomore Quan Holton added 10 points, six rebounds and three steals.
Kendall leads the AAC in total blocks per game (1.967), which also ranks number 19 in the NAIA DII. Kendall also finished the season ranked fourth in the AAC, 13th in the NAIA, for total rebounds per game (9.13). Floyd ranks fourth in the AAC for scoring with a total of 473 points and sixth in scoring per game (15.77). The sophomore guard, a 2019 AAC All-Freshmen team member, ranks fourth in steals per game (2.3) and total steals (71).

As the No. 9 seed, the Lady Bears will face No. 8 Milligan (12-18) on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 1:00 p.m., for the opening game of the AAC women's basketball tournament at the MeadowView Marriott Conference Resort & Convention Center in Kingsport, Tenn.
This is the program's first trip to the tournament since the 2016-17 season.
