CLEVELAND, Ga. (Feb. 17, 2020) – The Truett McConnell University women's basketball team hosted Union College on Wednesday night inside the Benjamin F. Brady Arena and fell 81-54 to the Bulldogs, who are ranked third in the Appalachian Athletic Conference standings (21-6, 18-4 AAC). The Lady Bears dropped to 14-14, 9-13 AAC on the season.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
After the Bulldogs pulled ahead 7-0, TMU got back within one point but Union pushed to lead by as much as eight (10-18) and six heading into the second quarter (13-19). Another tight quarter saw the Lady Bears get outscored by four (11-15) to trail by 10 at halftime (24-34). However, it was only up from there for Union.
Most notable, the Bulldogs went on a 12-0 scoring run to get out front by 25 (30-55) with 2:42 to go in the quarter. Aisya Davis drained a 3-pointer to get within 21 (37-58) with 10 seconds to go but the Bulldogs answered with an and-1 and the Lady Bears were ultimately never able to fully recover in the fourth quarter.
LEADERS
Sierra Kendall led the way with a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds, while adding four blocks and two steals. Davis also scored 16 points and led with three assists, while Quan Holton had five rebounds and two assists.
