MONTREAT, N.C. (Dec. 5, 2020) – Although the Truett McConnell University women's basketball team defeated Montreat College (74-65) earlier in the season, the Lady Bears fell this time around in an Appalachian Athletic Conference contest against the Cavaliers on the road (65-44). The Lady Bears fell to 5-5, 2-5 AAC on the year, while Montreat won their fourth straight game (5-3, 4-2 AAC).

The second quarter ultimately proved to be the difference in the first half. TMU led by as much as four in the first 10 minutes but Montreat tied it back up 17-17 to close out the first quarter. A free throw put the Cavaliers ahead for the rest of the half (19-20) and the Lady Bears were only allowed one more field goal, which was a
Natalie Nixon 3-pointer at the top of the key, as Montreat earned a five-point lead at the half (23-28).

A pair of
Aisya Davis free throws allowed TMU to get within three (30-33) but Montreat gained all the momentum responding with a pair of 3-pointers (30-39). The Cavs eventually outscored by four in the third (16-20) to lead by nine heading into the fourth (39-48). The final 10 minutes of regulation saw TMU's leading scorer and rebounder,
Re'Tavia Floyd and
Sierra Kendall, foul out and Montreat outscoring by 12 for a final score of 44-65.

LEADERS
Floyd led with 12 points, while Davis followed with 11 points. Kendall had seven points and nine rebounds. Floyd, Davis and
Sydney Rumble had two steals apiece, while
Jessica Jackson, Kendall and
Camilla Howell were each credited two assists.
