TOCCOA, Ga. (Oct. 31, 2020) – The Truett McConnell University men's basketball team came up with a win in their season opener at Toccoa Falls College (73-63) on Saturday evening.

After
Marlon Allen opened up the game with a 3-pointer, both teams went head to head through the half. In fact, both teams held a 5-point lead at most, but a last second free throw by the Screaming Eagles forced a tied game at halftime (32-32). TMU, however, picked up the pace in the second half.

It only took five minutes for the Bears to pull ahead by 10 (46-36) and the Bears did not let up as they pushed to lead by as much as 17. Although Toccoa battled to get back within as little as eight (71-63) with 14 seconds to go, it was ultimately the Bears who sealed their first win of the season (73-63).

BY THE NUMBERS
Not only did the Bears shoot 46.8% from the field, in comparison to Toccoa's 33.9%, TMU scored 42 points in the paint, while the Screaming Eagles were held to 24. The Bears also outrebounded by 13 (41-28).

Individually, Allen led the way with a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds. Allen was also credited two assists and had two steals. Junior
Enocka Franky followed with 10 points and nine rebounds. Senior
Xavier Latore and freshman
Ty Briscoe added eight points and two steals apiece, while
Darius Tisby led with three steals. Tisby and freshman
Cory Seitz also led with two blocks apiece.
