BLUEFIELD, Va. (Oct. 30, 2020) – The Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team battled to claim a five-set Appalachian Athletic Conference win (24-26, 25-18, 25-22, 17-25, 15-12) at Bluefield College on Friday evening. The Lady Bears, in fact, extended their winning streak to eight to improve to 9-2, 9-2 AAC on the season, while the Rams fell to 2-4, 2-4 AAC.

SET BY SET
The first set was the tightest race of the evening; Bluefield got out front by as many as six (13-19), the Lady Bears rallied to tie it up 22-22 but the Rams claimed their first win of the night with a pair of kills in extra points (24-26). A 5-0 scoring run by TMU ultimately put the Lady Bears in winning position as junior
Bethany Ross eventually tied up the match 1-1 with a kill (25-18).
Â
The third set was much like the first with the game tied at 22-22, but a Bluefield service error, a TMU service ace and a TMU kill put the Lady Bears on top for the second time (25-22). The Lady Bears went on to dig themselves a 0-7 hole and were never capable of fully recovering (17-25), which sent the match into a fifth set. A
Ranavia Neal kill sparked seven unanswered points by TMU in the final set (9-3), which gave the visiting Lady Bears enough momentum to fasten their ninth AAC victory of the year (15-12).
