Lady Bears battle but fall short at Milligan

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Jan. 9, 2020) – The Truett McConnell University women's basketball team trailed by just three points to Milligan College with 11 minutes to go in regulation, but the Buffaloes pulled ahead to hand the Lady Bears their fifth road loss of the season (74-58). TMU fell to 8-8, 4-7 AAC on the season, while Milligan improved to 6-12, 5-8 AAC.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
The first quarter saw the Buffaloes get out by as much as nine points but Sierra Kendall's two free throws began a strong 7-0 scoring run by the Lady Bears to close out the first quarter to come in from behind by two (12-14). Sydney Rumble tied it up (18-18) with a bucket in the paint three minutes into the second quarter but Milligan got hot enough to gain a nine-point lead heading into halftime (23-32).

It only took three minutes for the Lady Bears to get within three points again (33-36). In fact, TMU worked to eventually outscore the Buffs 23-20 throughout the third quarter. But a couple of key 3-pointers early in the fourth quarter gave Milligan the momentum necessary to finish ahead by double-digits.

Aisya Davis led TMU with 15 points, while Re'Tavia Floyd recorded a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds. Kendall also scored 12 points and added eight rebounds, including going 4-for-4 from the free throw line.
