CLEVELAND, Ga. (Jan. 11, 2020) – After 35 minutes of a back and forth battle, the Truett McConnell University women's basketball lost the lead for good with five minutes to go in regulation against Kentucky Christian University on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Bears lost 57-53 to Appalachian Athletic Conference member, KCU, which put them at 8-9, 4-8 AAC on the year. The Knights improved to 10-10, 8-7 AAC.

TMU's slow start allowed the Knights to get out front by six after the first quarter (9-15), but the Lady Bears responded in the second quarter. After KCU opened the second with a 6-0 scoring run, the Lady Bears closed out the quarter with a 7-0 run to cut the deficit to one at the half (24-25). The third quarter saw Natalie Nixon tie the game up twice with 3-pointers (27-27, 31-31), but the Knights were capable of outscoring by three to earn a four-point lead heading into the fourth (33-37).
The score was tied three times in the first five minutes of the fourth quarter and the Lady Bears led by as much as two (46-44), but the Knights pulled away in the final five minutes of the game to clinch the AAC victory.
LEADERS
Re'Tavia Floyd led the Lady Bears with 17 points, and Sierra Kendall recorded a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds. Quan Holton added seven points, nine rebounds and four steals, while Aisya Davis had seven points and led with four assists. Holton was credited three assists.

TMU will be back on the road on Wednesday, Jan. 15, at Point University but will return home to the Benjamin F. Brady Arena on Saturday, Jan. 18, at 2:00 p.m., to face Bluefield College.
