CLEVELAND, Ga. (Jan. 7, 2020) – The Truett McConnell University women's basketball team hosted No. 23 Reinhardt University for their first home contest of the 2020 season on Tuesday evening inside the Benjamin F. Brady Arena. The Lady Bears, however, were unable to come out on top against the Eagles (88-56), who are currently number two in the Appalachian Athletic Conference standings. TMU fell to 8-7, 4-6 AAC on the season, while the Eagles improved to 12-2, 9-2 AAC.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
The first six minutes of regulation saw a tight race as the Lady Bears trailed by a single point with 4:34 to go in the first quarter (10-11). But the nationally-ranked Eagles ended up pulling away by six (18-12) and it was only up from there as Reinhardt earned a 10-point lead heading into halftime (25-35). The Lady Bears, however, were only outscored in the second quarter by four points (13-17).
Most notable, a Sierra Kendall bucket in the paint sparked a strong closing 8-2 scoring run for the Lady Bears in the third quarter. In fact, TMU overall outscored the Eagles in the paint 36-26, while the Eagles shot 55.6% from behind the 3-point arc.
LEADERS
Re'Tavia Floyd led the way with 14 points and nine rebounds. Quan Holton followed with 13 points and two assists. Floyd and Holton also led with two steals apiece. Aisya Davis scored nine and Sierra Kendall recorded four blocks.
In the NAIA DII, the team ranks 26th in field goal percentage defense (0.369). Individually, Floyd ranks 27th in steals per game (2.667) and Kendall ranks 27th in total blocks (25).

The Lady Bears will hit the road for Milligan College on Thursday, Jan. 9, for another AAC matchup at 5:30 p.m., and will return home on Saturday, Jan. 11, at 2:00 p.m., to face Kentucky Christian University.
