MONTREAT, N.C. (Jan. 4, 2020) – The Truett McConnell University women's basketball team took their fifth straight road trip to Montreat College on Saturday afternoon. Although the score was tied one minute to go in the third quarter, the Lady Bears were unable to finish strong enough to come out on top in an Appalachian Athletic Conference showdown (66-58). TMU fell to 8-6, 4-5 AAC on the year, while the Cavaliers won their fifth straight game to improve to 9-5, 7-4 AAC.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
Re'Tavia Floyd opened up regulation with a 3-pointer and the Lady Bears worked to outscore the Cavaliers by one throughout the first quarter (12-11). TMU continued to maintain the lead in the second quarter until Montreat tied it up 19-19 and the Cavs went on to lead by as many as five points with five minutes left and ended up leading by four points heading into halftime (27-31).
TMU came out in the third quarter to outscore by 13-12. In fact, the score was tied up at 40-40 with 1:15 to go in the quarter but Montreat drained a last second 3-pointer to gain momentum (40-43). The Lady Bears trailed by as little as three in the fourth but the Cavs rallied to lead by as much 10 in the final five minutes of regulation.
LEADERS
Aisya Davis led the Lady Bears with 16 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Floyd followed with 12 points, five steals and three assists. Camilla Howell had 11 points and Quan Holton led with 11 rebounds.

The Lady Bears will return home to the Benjamin F. Brady Arena on Tuesday, Jan. 7, at 5:30 p.m., to host Reinhardt University. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
