DEMOREST, Ga. (Sept. 3, 2019) – The Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team went head to head with NCAA DIII Piedmont College on Tuesday night. The Lady Bears, however, fell just short in extra points to the Lions (13-25, 25-20, 23-25, 25-20, 15-17).
 
PLAY-BY-PLAY
After dropping the first set, the Lady Bears went on to pick up the pace. TMU went on a pair of 5-0 runs to lead by as many as eight points in the second set to eventually even the match on a Bethany Ross kill (1-1). The Lady Bears carried over their momentum into game three to lead 21-16 but Piedmont rallied to take the set on a 9-1 run. A 6-1 run ultimately boosted TMU's momentum in the fourth set, which was eventually won by another TMU Ross kill and forced the match into five sets.
 
As the match approached the end, both teams were put in winning position (13-14 PC, 15-14 TMU). But it was the home team that came out on top.
 
LEADERS
Ross earned her second double-double of the season leading at the net with 13 kills and defensively with 34 digs, while freshman Ranavia Neal followed closely with 12 kills. Abby Maxwell recorded her sixth double-double of her junior campaign with 32 and 18 digs with the addition of four kills. Junior libero Hannah Lee earned 24 digs, while fellow junior Abby Mumpower tallied 16. Madison Curtis led with four block assists; Harris Anne Walker and Ross had three apiece. Walker, in fact, had two single blocks.
