CLEVELAND, Ga. (Sept. 27, 2019) – The Truett McConnell University suffered an Appalachian Athletic Conference loss in three straight sets against Union College on Friday night inside the TMU Bear Cave (14-25, 19-25, 23-25). The Lady Bears are now 6-12, 4-5 AAC on the year.

After Union got out front 11-9, it was only up from there as the Bulldogs closed out the first set on a 14-5 run. Game two saw a much tighter race. It was 16-16 when the Bulldogs got out front for good. However, the Lady Bears came in from behind to trail by just one point (18-19) but TMU ultimately fell short (19-25). The Bulldogs proved to carry over their momentum into game three but the Lady Bears ignited an impressive rally in the end. In fact, two back-to-back TMU kills sparked a 5-1 run by the Lady Bears, which held at Union at point 24 (23-24), but the Bulldogs sealed the sweep on their 17th kill of the set (23-25).
LEADERS
Sophomore Bethany Ross led offensively with 11 kills while Madison Curtis followed with eight and Audrey Henderson added five. Curtis also had another impressive night at the net with seven blocks. Abby Maxwell recorded her 12th double-double of her junior campaign with 25 assists and 12 digs, while Hannah Lee led defensively with her 16 digs.

TMU has a quick turnaround as they host a tri-match on Saturday, Sept. 28. The Lady Bears will first face AAC foe Kentucky Christian University at 11:00 a.m., and then Toccoa Falls College at 3:00 p.m., inside the TMU Bear Cave.
