DAYTON, Tenn. (Sept. 13, 2019) – After winning two out of the first three sets, the Truett McConnell University women's volleyball suffered a heartbreaking loss in five sets at Bryan College in an Appalachian Athletic Confernence showdown on Friday night (25-21, 19-25, 25-21, 22-25, 12-15). The loss moved the Lady Bears' season record to 4-7, 2-2 AAC.

TMU fell behind in the first set, but after trailing 14-19, a Harris Anne Walker kill sparked a 7-0 run to tie it up 20-20 to gain enough momentum to take the game on 5-1 run (25-21). The second set saw the Lions get hot early and the Lady Bears were never capable of fully recovering (19-25). Both teams went on a 6-0 run to start out game three but it was only up from for TMU. Bryan attempted to come in from behind late but it wasn't enough (25-21).
The Lady Bears worked to lead by three consistently (16-13, 18-15) but Bryan rallied to force the game into five sets (22-25). The Lions picked up the pace in their home arena and came out on top (12-15).
LEADERS
For the fourth game straight, Walker led at the net with 13 kills while fellow senior Madison Curtis and sophomore Bethany Ross added 10 kills apiece. Curtis also led with five blocks and freshman Ranavia Neal had four. Junior Abby Maxwell recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 35 assists and a career high of 34 digs. Ross followed with 24 digs and Anna Mumpower and Abby Mumpower earned 17 apiece.
