WALESKA, Ga. (Aug. 29, 2019) – The Truett McConnell University men's soccer team traveled to Reinhardt University for their first road match of the season to face Ottawa University on Thursday afternoon. The Bears fell in a nonconference battle 6-0.
TMU took the first two shots of the game right off the bat. In fact, the Bears tallied four shots in comparison to Ottawa's one in the first 20 minutes of the game, however, the Spirit found the back of the net for the first time in the 24th minute (0-1). The Bears went on to hold Ottawa to just one more goal before the half (0-2) but the Spirit picked up the pace in the final 45 minutes of play. TMU took four more shots in the second half but it proved not enough.
Javier Rodriguez and
Trevor Fick led the way with two shots, one on goal, while
Luca Brugmann,
Cristobal Montes,
Cody Carnes and
Ivan Serubiri added a shot apiece. Senior
Evan Gaffney recorded a total of six saves on the day.
The Bears will be back at Reinhardt University on Saturday, Aug. 31, to face Dalton State College at 2:00 p.m. TMU returns home on Thursday, Sept. 12, at 4:00 p.m., when they host Life University.
