CLEVELAND, Ga. (Aug. 24, 2019) – The Truett McConnell University men's soccer team got up on the scoreboard first in the Bears' season home opener but ultimately fell short against No. 25 Southeastern University (2-1) on Saturday at the TMU Soccer Complex.

Sophomore Trevor Fick found the back of the net in the 30th minute (1-0). In fact, the Bears outshot the Fire in the first 45 minutes of play 7-6. But with just three minutes before halftime, Southeastern matched Fick's goal to tie it up (1-1). It only took three minutes into the second half for the Fire to score what ended up being the winning goal (2-1). Sophomore Luca Brugmann struck about eight yards out with just eight seconds to go in attempt to send the game into overtime, however, the ball went just wide.
LEADERS
Javier Rodriguez led the Bears with six shots, three on goal, while Fick followed with three shots, two on goal. Senior captain Evan Gaffney racked up a total of five saves on the day.
