BARBOURVILLE, Ky. (March 23, 2019) – After splitting the twin bill on Friday, the Truett McConnell University baseball team clinched their fourth Appalachian Athletic Conference series over the Union College Bulldogs in game three (7-6). The Bears, who are receiving votes in the latest NAIA national top 25, have yet to lose an AAC series and improved to 17-9, 10-2 AAC on the year.
TMU remains the number one team in the conference with two more wins and two less losses than the number two team, No. 14 Bryan.
GAME THREE (7-6)
With two outs, senior Patrick Overstreet doubled to deep left-center field and sophomore Jackson Meadors followed with a single to right-center which drove home the Bears' first run in the bottom of the first. After John Michael McRae also singled, McRae ran home on a defensive error to immediately put TMU out front by two (2-0). Union went on to score three runs in the bottom of the third to take the lead (2-3).
The Bears, however, rallied in the fourth and fifth inning. Senior Austin Bishop scored the tying run with a single through the hole at shortstop (3-3) and Overstreet's two RBI single to left field scored Tyler Pruett and Shane Smith to put the Bears out front for good (5-3). After holding the Bulldogs scoreless in the fourth, Mason Gaines also smacked a two RBI single in the fifth to further extend the Bears' lead (7-3).
The Bulldogs recorded a run in the fifth, sixth and eighth inning (7-6) but it proved not enough as freshman Brooks Rosser forced three fly outs in the bottom of the ninth to seal the deal.

McRae led going 2-for-4 while Bishop and Overstreet went 2-for-5. Freshman Will Ingram went 1-for-2 and Meadors, Connor Bearden and Gaines all added a hit apiece.
