CLEVELAND, Ga. (Feb. 6, 2019) – The Truett McConnell University women's basketball team hosted St. Andrews University for Appalachian Athletic Conference showdown inside the Benjamin F. Brady Arena on Wednesday night. The Lady Bears (5-20, 4-18 AAC) fell to the Knights (13-11, 12-10 AAC) 63-53.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
Freshman Sydney Rumble started the Lady Bears off on the right foot with a 3-pointer but St. Andrews pulled away towards the end of the first quarter to lead by six (12-18). TMU bounced back to win the second quarter by one to trail by five at the half (22-27). However, the third quarter ultimately doomed the Lady Bears.
The Knights dominated the third quarter outscoring TMU by 17 (26-9) to lead by as many as 22 points heading into the fourth quarter. The Lady Bears rallied in the final 10 minutes of regulation to outscore the Knights by 12 but it proved not enough as St. Andrews held off the Lady Bears to clinch their 12th AAC win of the year.
"We will continue to battle," Head Coach Tiek Fields said. "We will learn a lot from this game."
LEADERS
Freshman Hannah Dunston recorded a career high of nine points. Senior Sarah Hartshorn also led with nine points. Sophomore Sierra Kendall scored eight and rebounded eight. Junior captain Kinley Mitchell tallied seven rebounds while freshman Quan Holton was credited four assists and had two steals.
