Bears put up triple digits in big win over Point

CLEVELAND, Ga. (Jan. 31, 2019) – The Truett McConnell University men's basketball team beat Point University in dominating fashion on Thursday night inside the Benjamin F. Brady Arena (103-77). In fact, five Bears recorded double figures to improve to 12-11, 7-10 AAC on the year while the Skyhawks fell to 7-17, 5-12 AAC.

PLAY-BY-PLAY

After winning the first eight points of the game, the Bears pushed to lead by as much as 19 points in the first 20 minutes of play. Though TMU possessed just a 12-point lead at the half (52-40), the Bears went on to lead by no less 20 points after the first five minutes of the second half. Additionally, TMU led by as many as 32 points in the final 20 minutes of regulation.

Last time the teams met, Point defeated the Bears at their place 77-54.

LEADERS

Sophomore Calvin White led the way with 21 points and nine rebounds. For the second straight game junior Kai Lambert scored 14 points. Lambert also added seven rebounds and three assists. Following closely was sophomore Myles Monroe with 13 points and seven rebounds.

Senior Christian Davis added 11 points and five steals. Freshman Enocka Franky had a career high of 11 points and added seven rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Sophomore Matthew McDonough also recorded a career high of seven points, 11 rebounds and two blocks.

The team is currently ranked fifth in the country in total steals (212) while Davis ranks first individually in steals per game (2.818). The team is also ranked number six in blocks per game (4.136). Junior Darius Thrower is ranked third in 3-point field goal percentage (0.532).

UP NEXT

The Bears are back at home for two more AAC games in a row. On Monday, Feb. 4, at 7:30 p.m., TMU will face Milligan College.
