CLEVELAND, Ga. (Dec. 4, 2019) – The Truett McConnell University women's basketball team dominated Columbia International University in the first and fourth quarters of the evening to pick up their second Appalachian Athletic Conference win of the season (61-57) on Wednesday night inside the Benjamin F. Brady Arena. The win improved the Lady Bears to 5-2, 2-2 AAC on the year, which already puts them at the equal number of wins the 2018-19 team recorded last season as a whole.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After scoring the first three buckets of the night (6-0), two straight 3-pointers by Aisya Davis and Jessica Jackson eventually put the Lady Bears ahead by double digits in the first quarter (18-8). Although the Rams responded with a 3-pointer of their own, TMU maintained a nine-point lead heading into the second quarter. The Rams, however, rallied to outscore the Lady Bears 14-11 to get as close as three points but TMU still lead by six at halftime (31-25)
CIU came back out in the third quarter to outscore TMU 21-9, which put them back out front to lead by as many as nine points (37-46). The Lady Bears managed to bring it back within six at the end of the third quarter (40-46) and it was only up from there for the home team. It only took five minutes for the Lady Bears to tie it back up 51-51 on a 5-0 scoring run and TMU closed out the final five minutes of regulation outscoring the visiting Rams 10-6 from the charity stripe and in the paint.

Four Lady Bears recorded double-digit points; led by the team's leading scorer, Re'Tavia Floyd, with 12 points, while Sierra Kendall and Davis added 11 points apiece. Camilla Howell added 10 points and Quan Holton had 11 rebounds, four assists and three steals.
