TOCCOA, Ga. (Nov. 26, 2019) – For the second time this season, the Truett McConnell University women's basketball team defeated Toccoa Falls College on Tuesday evening on the road. The Lady Bears came out on top in dominating fashion (70-45) to improve to an overall record of 4-2, 1-2 AAC on the year.
Last time they, TMU defeated the Screaming Eagles in their season opener 71-59.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
Two back-to-back three pointers by Jessica Jackson and Re'Tavia Floyd put the Lady Bears ahead by double digits (17-6) and another Quan Holton bucket in the paint gave TMU a 13-point lead heading into the second quarter (19-6). An 8-0 scoring run by the Lady Bears allowed their largest lead of the first half (29-9) and Floyd closed out the final seconds of the first half with a steal and bucket in the paint to maintain a strong 18-point lead at halftime (36-18).
The Screaming Eagles came within 19 points with 2:45 to go in regulation, but it was only up from there for TMU. The Lady Bears led by no less than 20 points the rest of the way. A Holton free throw, in fact, put TMU up by 28 points in the closing minutes (65-37).
Overall, the Lady Bears dominated in the paint outscoring the Screaming Eagles 48-16.
LEADERS
Sierra Kendall led the way with a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds, with the addition of two steals and a block. Floyd also scored 18 points with three steals and Holton scored 10 with six rebounds, five steals and four assists. Jordyn Wilder added seven points and Sydney Rumble added six.
