GREENVILLE, S.C. (Nov. 2, 2019) – The Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team traveled to Bob Jones University to face the Bruins and Kentucky Christian University on Saturday, which concluded the Lady Bears regular season schedule. The Lady Bears fell in four sets against the Knights (10-25, 7-25, 25-22, 16-25) and in three against the Bruins (17-25, 13-25, 16-25) to finish the season 16-18, 12-9 AAC.
MATCH ONE (KCU)
"It was a really great opportunity for some younger players to get some good playing experience and for others to rest and cheer on their teammates," Head Coach Corbin said. The Knights were capable of starting out and ending the first set with 7-0 scoring runs to claim the match momentum. KCU's 9-0 scoring run in the second set proved to put the game out of reach, but game three saw both teams play neck and neck. An Audrey Henderson kill and two KCU attacking errors ended up claiming their lone win of the match (25-22). The Knights got out front 12-2 in the fourth set, which didn't allow TMU much room for errors the rest of the way.
Henderson led the Lady Bears with eight kills and 13 digs. Rachel Raines and Ranavia Neal added four kills apiece, and Hannah Lee had five service aces and seven digs.
MATCH TWO (BJU)
The Bruins outshined the Bears offensively in the kills column (41-23 overall), which ultimately proved to be the difference. Bob Jones recorded three 4-0 scoring runs in the first set, which put them far enough out front to win. Game two saw the Bruins lead by double-digits when TMU reached point eight and the Bruins pushed to lead by as big as 13 points in game three. The Lady Bears, however, sparked a 4-0 scoring run when Bob Jones reached point 24 but it proved not enough.
Sophomore Bethany Ross led with eight kills and Madison Curtis added seven. Abby Maxwell recorded her 18th double-double of the season with 15 kills and 16 digs. Lee followed with 10 digs of her own.
