KINGSPORT, Tenn. (Nov. 13, 2019) – The No. 7 seeded Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team defeated No. 10 seeded Tennessee Wesleyan University in four sets (27-29, 25-19, 25-23, 25-19) on Wednesday night in the AAC tournament.

Last time they met, TMU swept the Bulldogs on the road in the regular season.

The Lady Bears earned 16 kills in comparison to the Bulldogs' 14 in the first set, however, it was Wesleyan who came out on top in extra points (27-29). TMU, however, picked up the pace in the second set earning the first four points (4-0), which allowed enough room for TMU to lead the rest of the way. The third set saw a much tighter race as both teams went neck and neck all the way until 23-23. Two back-to-back
Bethany Ross kills ended up putting the Lady Bears up 2-1 in the match.

Wesleyan earned the first four points of the fourth set this time around (0-4), but TMU was capable of fully recovering. In fact, the Lady Bears pushed to lead by 10 (20-10). The Bulldogs rallied to get within four (23-19), but a service error and another Ross kill fastened the team's first AAC postseason win in four sets.

LEADERS
Maxwell, an All-AAC first team member, recorded a double-double of 45 assists and 14 digs. Ross led the offense with her season high of 21 kills and recorded a double-double herself with the addition of 12 digs. Henderson followed with 14 kills. Junior

Abby Mumpower added 11.
