CLEVELAND, Ga. (Jan. 5, 2019) – Sophomore Sierra Kendall and freshman Re'Tavia Floyd led the Truett McConnell University women's basketball team in double-digits but the Lady Bears fell in an Appalachian Athletic Conference battle against Allen University on Saturday afternoon, 77-71. The Lady Bears worked to earn their second AAC win of the season (2-12, 1-10 AAC) while the Yellow Jackets returned to .500 on the year (6-6, 3-5 AAC).
SECOND QUARTER DEFEAT | SECOND HALF COMEBACK
After trailing by just a bucket entering into the second quarter, the Yellow Jackets got hot outscoring the Lady Bears by 10 all the while holding TMU to just eight points (8-18). However, the third quarter saw a different TMU squad. The Lady Bears were only outscored by one (18-19) but it was the final 10 minutes of regulation when TMU shined.
TMU scored 36 points (Allen scored 29)Â to record their season high of 71 points. The Lady Bears shot 70.59% from the field and worked to get within six points of the Yellow Jackets but their three 3-pointers proved to be the difference.
LEADERS
Floyd led the way with her career high of 26 points and four assists while Kendall recorded her fifth double-double of her sophomore campaign; 16 points, 12 rebounds. Freshman Madison Davis also recorded a career high of nine points after draining three 3-pointers. Fellow freshman Camilla Howell added eight points. China Durham earned five rebounds.
