Men’s soccer falls in AAC showdown, 1-0

CLEVELAND, Ga. (Sept. 29, 2018) – The Truett McConnell University and Bryan College men's soccer teams went head to head for an Appalchian Athletic Conference showdown at the TMU Soccer Complex but the Lions came out on top to hand the Bears their third AAC loss this season (1-0).

The Bears dropped to 5-3, 2-3 AAC on the year while the Lions improved to 5-3-2, 3-1-1 AAC.

THE LONE GOAL | BY THE NUMBERS

The first 45 minutes of the game saw TMU taking five shots in comparison to Bryan's nine but no goals. Despite the Bears outshooting the Lions 7-4 in the second half, Bryan found a way to deliver the game's lone goal with 10 minutes remaining.

Joao Costa had a handful of close chances to level the score but nothing would find the back of the net. Victor Clemente and Trevor Fick each took two shots alongside Costa's five on the night. TMU earned two more corner kicks than Bryan which led to more quality opportunities at the net. Nonetheless, it proved not enough as the Lions defeated the Bears for their third AAC victory of the season.

TMU's keeper, Evan Gaffney, compiled a total of five saves.
