TIGERVILLE, S.C. (Sept. 27, 2018) – The Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team traveled to North Greenville University, an NCAA DII school, for a nonconference matchup on Thursday night. The Lady Bears fell to the Crusaders in three sets 25-13, 25-13, 25-23.

LEADERS

TMU was led by freshman Bethany Ross with 10 kills while Shayla Smith added six and Jordan Henshaw four. Hannah Lee led digging 11 and Abby Maxwell followed with 10. Maxwell tallied another double-double with 24 assists. In addition, Madison Curtis had three blocks and Olivia Beasley had two.

North Greenville used an early 8-0 run to put the first game out of reach for the Lady Bears (25-13). Similar to the first set, the Crusaders dominated in the kills category to stay out in front of TMU in the second set (25-13). However, a very tightly contested third game ended the night. Game three saw the Lady Bears lead by as much as four points (15-11). The Crusaders responded with a 5-0 run which enabled a tied game at 22 apiece. Ross' kill for point 23 proved not enough as TMU dropped the third game (25-23).

UP NEXT

TMU will be back on the road Saturday, Sept. 29, for an Appalachian Athletic Conference match against Bryan College at 1:00 p.m. The Lady Bears return to the TMU Bear Cave on Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 6:30 p.m., to face Montreat College.
