DAYTON, Tenn. (Sept. 29, 2018) – The Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team hit the road for their second Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup of the week at Bryan College. The Lady Bears dropped a well-fought match in three sets 25-23, 26-24, 25-12.
TMU dropped to 7-12, 2-5 AAC on the year while the Lions improved to 9-10, 5-4 AAC.

As both teams went head to head, (14-14) Bryan used a couple of 3-0 runs to get out front and TMU was unable to maintain any sort of lead. At 19-24, the Lady Bears rallied with a 4-0 run but it was not enough as the Lions took the first set by just two points 25-23. Game two saw the Lady Bears earn more than twice the amount of Bryan kills (14-6). At one point TMU led by as much as eight points (13-5). Despite the early momentum, Bryan forced five TMU errors which led to a tied game at 18. The Lions went on to take the second game on a 4-0 run.
Game three was unlike the rest of the night as Bryan dominated early with a 5-0 and 8-0 run to put the game out of reach to secure the sweep over the Lady Bears (25-12).
LEADERS
Senior Shayla Smith led with 12 kills and four blocks. Freshman Bethany Ross added five kills and Olivia Beasley had three blocks. Anna Mumpower compiled a total of nine assists on the night and Hannah Lee tallied 13 digs.

TMU will return home to the TMU Bear Cave after a long away game streak. The Lady Bears will face Montreat College on Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 6:30 p.m.
