ATHENS, Tenn. (Sept. 18, 2018) – After a week of no competition, the Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team traveled to Tennessee Wesleyan University for an Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup. The Lady Bears (6-9, 1-3 AAC) fell to the Bulldogs (7-9, 3-0 AAC) in three sets 23-25, 18-25, 18-25.
PLAY BY PLAY
The first set was evenly matched as both teams compiled a total nine kills. After 14-14, the Bulldogs got out front and the Lady Bears were too late to rally. TMU used a 3-0 run at 24-20 but it proved not enough as Wesleyan took the first game on a kill (25-23).
The Bulldogs went on an early 9-0 run to gain every bit of momentum in game two proving to put the set out of reach from the start (25-18). TMU went on to earn the first three points of set three, but after trailing by one (10-11), Wesleyan used a 5-0 run and several 3-0 runs to secure their sweep over the Lady Bears.
LEADERS
Freshman Bethany Ross led with seven kills while senior Shayla Smith added four. Hannah Lee compiled a total 15 kills and Abby Maxwell was credited 19 assists.
