GAINESVILLE, Ga. (Sept. 21, 2018) – Shayla Smith and Bethany Ross led the Truett McConnell women's volleyball team on Friday night at Brenau University for their second Appalachian Athletic Conference victory of the season. The Lady Bears (7-9, 2-3 AAC) swept the Golden Tigers (1-14, 0-5 AAC) in three quick sets 25-11, 25-16, 25-21.

The Lady Bears from the start dominated earning the first three points of the game and connected for 13 kills in comparison to Brenau's five. TMU went on an 8-0 run to put the game out of reach leading by as much as 12 points. Ross put away the ball at the outside of the net to take the first set 25-11.
TMU went on to outplay the Golden Tigers again in the kills column for the second set. A 6-0 run early in the game was enough to get the Lady Bears out front for good leading by as much as nine points. However, this time Jordan Henshaw's kill decided the set (25-16).
Game three was the closest one of the night but TMU never trailed after the first couple of points. The Golden Tigers pushed to come in from behind getting within one point of the Lady Bears (21-20) but TMU was resilient and finished the job. Harris Anne Walker's kill fastened TMU's fourth sweep of the season (25-21).
LEADERS
Smith tallied 11 kills while Ross followed with nine. Smith also led with five block assists while Olivia Beasley connected for two. Henshaw added five kills and Beasley four. Abby Maxwell was credited 28 assists on the night while Hannah Lee earned seven digs.
