MONTREAT, N.C. (Sept. 1, 2018) – Junior Susanna Peppers finds the back of the net for the winning goal in the final six minutes of the game in a nonconference faceoff against Life University at Montreat College on Saturday evening. The Lady Bears defeated the Running Eagles 1-0 for their second win and second shutout of the season.

The Lady Bears dominated on both sides of the field from the start. TMU outshot the Running Eagles 11 to four in the first half and 13 to three in the second 45 minutes of play. Jasmin Lanuza, Jennifer McCall Megan McCall and Jessica Lanier were amongst the group who attacked in the first half forcing Life's goalkeeper to stay on her toes. Life's goalkeeper compiled a total of 10 saves in comparison to Jessica Hale's one. Of the 24 total shots taken by the Lady Bears, 12 were on goal while the Running Eagles tallied one shot on goal (seven shots total). TMU also earned four corner kicks in comparison to Life's one.

Of the 13 shots taken by the Lady Bears in the second half, Lauren Huston's shot that hit the post was amongst one of the closest to be a goal. Nonetheless, with 6:23 remaining freshman Finley Brisendine finds Peppers right outside of the 18-yard box for a goal that made all the attempts worth it.

LEADERS

Peppers led shooting seven times (four on goal) while M. McCall followed with five shots (two on goal). Lanier added two shots, one on goal.

UP NEXT

TMU returns home for the next two games on Saturday, Sept. 8, for their first Appalachian Athletic Conference game against Bluefield College at 12 p.m. The Lady Bears will then turn around and face Tennessee Wesleyan on Wednesday, Sept. 12, at 2 p.m.
