Cleveland, Ga. | Truett McConnell University Softball team hosted St. Andrews in an Appalachian Athletic Conference series on Friday afternoon. Heading into the series, the Lady Bears held a 4-game win streak and looked to extend it.
Game 1
Beginning Game 1, Coach
Jenni Shepard sent sophomore pitcher
Bethany Hyde to the mound for the Lady Bears.
The Knights struck first in the top of the 1st inning, scoring one run. The Lady Bears would respond in the bottom of the 1st inning, beginning with a single up the middle from
Kaitlynn Hay.
Sara Sullivan reached base off a bunt, giving senior
Reba Jones an RBI opportunity. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Jones doubled up the middle to send home both Hay and Sullivan to give the Lady Bears a 2-1 lead.
In the bottom of the 2nd inning, the Lady Bears continued to stay in rhythm.
Jaden Morrison would hit a triple up the middle, and later would score.
Kaitlynn Hay would then get walked, bringing
Milly Martinet to the plate. Martinet currently ranks 3rd in the NAIA in home runs with 14. She stayed in usual form and sent a pitch over the left-center field wall to extend the Bears lead to 5-1.
St. Andrews narrowed the Lady Bears lead down by scoring one run in the top of the 3rd inning.
In the bottom of the 4th inning, the Lady Bears scored one run, but they left three runners on base to end the inning.
Karley Hobbs would get the call to relieve Hyde, as the Lady Bears took Game 1 of the series 6-2.

After relieving
Bethany Hyde in Game 1, freshman
Karley Hobbs stepped to the mound to start for the Lady Bears. Hobbs has been on an unbelieved tear with a sub-2.00 ERA in her freshman campaign. This game would be no different as she turned in another dominate start and received offensive support. Hobbs only allowed 2 hits over her 6.0 innings pitched.

Milly Martinetfor a 1-0 lead.
To avoid the fire power of senior
Milly Martinet, St. Andrews decided to intentionally walk Martinet, sending
Brie Levy back to the plate again.
Brie Levy delivered as she hit her second home run of the game, putting the Lady Bears up 3-0.
In the bottom of the 5th inning,
Brie Levy's bat continued to stay hot as she hit her third home run of the game to add three runs to the scoreboard for the Lady Bears. The Lady Bears offense tacked on one more run to extend their lead to 7-0.
After the Lady Bears scored one more run in the 6th inning, both sides stayed quiet on the scoreboard for the remainder of the game. The Lady Bears would take Game 2 by a final score of 8-0 and extended their win streak to six games.
