Kingsport, Tn. | The Truett McConnell Softball team played #4 Reinhardt University in the second round of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Softball Tournament on Thursday, April 26. Entering the matchup, the Lady Bears dropped both games to Reinhardt earlier in the season and looked to advance to the conference semi-finals.
Freshman
Karley Hobbs started on the mound for the Lady Bears. Hobbs currently leads the NAIA in total wins with 26. In the top of the 1st, Reinhardt struck early, scoring one run to take the lead.
In the bottom of the 2nd,
Karli Loudermilk hit a single up the middle, which allowed Katherine Kozlowski, pinch running for
Brie Levy, to score to tie the game at 1-1.
The Lady Bears struggled to score the rest of the game, and Reinhardt ended up taking advantage of it. Reinhardt would score four more runs to extend their lead throughout the remainder of game. The Lady Bears would fall to Reinhardt by a final score of 5-1.
With the loss, Truett McConnell (35-15 overall; 19-5) will play #3 Union College (22-22 overall; 17-7 AAC) in an elimination game tomorrow, April 27th, at 11 a.m. The Lady Bears split the season series with Union on March 7th at home, winning 5-4 and losing 2-5. Live stream will be available.
