West Point, Ga. | On Friday, April 13th, the Lady Bears traveled to West Point, Georgia, to take on the Skyhawks of Point University. The Lady Bears entered the matchup riding a hot 8-game winning streak.

Game 1

In Game 1 of the doubleheader, the Lady Bears would send the usual Game 1 starter, Bethany Hyde, to the mound to face the Skyhawks. Hyde ended up throwing a great game for the Lady Bears, as she shut down Point's offense through six innings.

With the help from Hyde, the Lady Bears offense had time to get going. In the top of the 3rd, the Lady Bears were able to break through with their first run of the evening. After Jaden Morrison reached on an error by the shortstop, she was driven in by a sacrifice fly off the bat of Sara Sullivan. This would mark the first run of the game for the Lady Bears as they went up 1-0.

Entering the top of the 4th, Reba Jones singled up the middle to lead the inning off. She was forced out at second when Brie Levy grounded into a fielder's choice. With a runner at first and one out, Sarah Horne reached safely on an error by the 1st baseman, and Levy advanced to third on the error. Peyton Wilson would ground out to 3rd, but the ground out moved Horne into scoring position. With two outs and runners on second and third, Macey Dunaway singled up the middle to drive in both Levy and Horne to give the Lady Bears a 3-0 lead.

Point would make things interesting in the bottom of the 7th as they scored two runs. Karley Hobbs would be called in as relief and held the Skyhawks scoreless to earn the save and secure a 3-2 win.

Senior Sara Horne moved Levy into scoring position as she laid down a sacrifice bunt. Peyton Wilson then singled to down the left field line. Macey Dunaway would single up the middle to score Levy and give the Lady Bears a 1-0 lead.

With two outs in the top of the 3rd, the Lady Bears found a way to add on two runs. Beginning the inning for the Lady Bears, both Brie Levy and Sarah Horne showed patience at the plate and were walked. Peyton Wilson hit her second single of the afternoon to left field to load the bases. With the bases loaded, Macey Dunaway doubled down the left field line, scoring both Brie Levy and Sarah Horne to extend the Lady Bears lead to 3-0.

The Lady Bears offense continued to stay hot in the top of the 4th. Kaitlynn Hay reached base safely on an error by the shortstop. Sara Sullivan moved Hay up to second with a sacrifice bunt. Senior Milly Martinet then singled to right-center, driving in Hay and giving the Lady Bears a commanding 4-0 lead.

Point would push across its only run of the game in the bottom of the 4th, narrowing the Lady Bears lead to 4-1.

Milly Martinet led the top of the 6th off with a single to center field, and Kozlowski would pinch run for Martinet. After Jones moved Kozlowski up to second on a sacrifice bunt, Sarah Horne would drive her in with a double to left-center, giving the Lady Bears a 5-1 lead.
