Box Score 2 Cleveland, Ga. - Coming off of two tough losses to end their winning streak at 5-games, the Lady Bears looked to get back in rythm on Saturday, March 24th, as they hosted the Bluefield College Rams in an Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup.
Game 1
Beginning the afternoon for the Lady Bears, Coach
Jenni Shepard sent sophomore pitcher
Bethany Hyde to the mound to start off Game 1.
Waiting no time at all, the Lady Bears offense caught fire in the bottom of the 1st off a two-run homerun from
Milly Martinet.
Bluefield would answer to Martinet's homerun in the top of the 2nd as they tacked on a run of their own. The Lady Bears continued their hot start in the bottom of the 2nd.
Sara Sullivan added two runs to the score, when she pushed both
Sarah Horne and
Macey Dunaway home off a hit. Martinet did not skip a beat from her earlier homerun in the 1st inning, as she sent Dunaway home on an RBI double to give the Lady Bears a 5-1 lead.
The Lady Rams were able to push a pair of runs of their own across the plate in the 4th inning to close in on the Lady Bears' lead at 5-3.
Karley Hobbs entered the game and fueled the Lady Bears defensive efforts. The remainder of the game would be scoreless on both sides, as Hobbs earned the save in Game 1 of the double header.
Game 2
Hobbs would stay on the mound for the Lady Bears in the start of Game 2, and she looked to earn her 11th win of the year.
The Lady Bears offensive continued its torrid pace, posting 18 runs in the second game of the double header.
The bats of the Lady Bears continued to heat up as three home runs were seen coming off their bats.
Brie Levy had an impressive Game 2 showing, as she hit one grand slam and another 3-run homerun.
Milly Martinet stayed in her usual form with a homer in Game 2 as well.

Reba Jones,
Milly Martinet, and
Karli Loudermilk each had doubles in Game 2.
Twelve different Lady Bears recorded a hit in the game to complete the impressive outing and a Game 2 win by a score of 18-2.

With the sweep of Bluefield College, the Lady Bears currently hold an overall record of 20-10 and a conference record of 7-3. They will return to action on Tuesday, March 27th, when they travel to Waleska, GA, to take on Reinhardt University in a conference double-header.
