CLEVELAND, GA. | Despite four players from TMU to finish in double figure, it wasn't enough to seal a conference victory Wednesday evening in the Bear Cave over Allen University. The TMU women's basketball team ran out of time late in the fourth quarter as
Madison Curtis nailed a three to put the Bears down 4 with seven seconds to go. TMU eventually took an AAC loss against Allen University, 64-69. The Women's basketball team are now 3-21 on the season and 1-19 in AAC play.
The two AAC rivals went basket for basket early on, finishing the first period 13-13. Battling all throughout the second period, the two teams never cut the score more than 2 points. With the score tied, 24-24, Braliese Reese knocked down a big basket sending the Lady Bears up two going into the half.
Heading into the 3rd period, TMU went on an 8-0 run that eventually turned into a 10 point lead for the Lady Bears. Allen responded at the free throw line to take back the lead at the end of the quarter. The yellow jackets received early baskets in the final period that would ultimately help turn into an AAC victory for Allen.
TMU finished with four players in double figures. Leading the Lady Bears was Braliese Reese with a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds. Also leading the bears was
Anna Murr (18),
Madison Curtis (13 points and 8 rebunds), and
Sierra Kendall (12 points and 8 rebounds).
The Lady Bears will be on the road this Saturday as they take on Columbia College. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m.
