CLEVELAND, Ga. (Dec. 1, 2018) – The Truett McConnell University women's basketball team had a strong second quarter outscoring Columbia College by 11 but the Lady Bears ultimately fell to the Fighting Koalas in an Appalachian Athletic Conference showdown on Saturday afternoon inside the Benjamin F. Brady Arena, 70-63.
The Lady Bears fell to 2-7, 1-6 AAC on the year while the Fighting Koalas improved to 3-4, 2-4 AAC.

TMU got off to a slow start as Columbia scored the first nine points of the game (9-0) and went on to outscore the Lady Bears 19-7. However, TMU came back out in the second quarter ready to dominate. TMU started out the quarter with a 7-0 run and it was only up from there. TMU shot above 60% from the field, 3-point arc and free throws to outscore by 11 and to trail by one at the half (29-28).
The third quarter was tightly contested but it was the fourth quarter that sealed Columbia's victory. The Fighting Koalas went 12-of-14 behind the free throw line in comparison to TMU going 3-of-11, which ultimately proved to the difference.
LEADERS
Freshman Re'tavia Floyd led with 23 points while senior Sarah Hartshorn followed with 12 points. Sophomore Sierra Kendall compiled a total of 11 rebounds and Yasmine Avery earned seven.

The Lady Bears will wrap up conference play for this semester on the road on Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Point University and on Saturday, Dec. 8, at St. Andrews University.
