CLEVELAND, Ga. (Nov. 3, 2018) – The Truett McConnell University women's volleyball swept the Columbia International University Rams in an Appalachian Athletic Conference showdown on Saturday inside the TMU Bear Cave to conclude the Lady Bears' regular season (26-24, 29-27, 25-21). The Lady Bears finished the regular season 13-19, 8-10 AAC.
The Rams rallied early on with an 8-2 run and went on to lead by 7 (23-16) but the Lady Bears went on a late surge (10-1) to take the first set of the night (26-24). In game two, TMU led from the very beginning until Columbia International tied it up at 24 on a 4-0 run. Both teams battled it out but it was the Lady Bears who came out on top on an Olivia Beasley kill (29-27). TMU outshined the Rams in the kills column 17-14.
Game three saw the least competitive set of the night as the Lady Bears led by as many as eight points. Another Beasley kill claimed the third set for TMU (25-21).
TMU was led by senior Shayla Smith with 13 kills while Beasley followed with 10 kills. Freshman Bethany Ross added nine kills and Jordan Henshaw added six. Abby Maxwell was credited 40 assists while Hannah Lee tallied 12 digs and Ross earned 10.
