Box Score KINGSPORT, Tenn. (Nov. 8, 2018) – The Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team battled the No. 1 seeded Reinhardt University at the Appalachian Athletic Conference women's volleyball tournament on Thursday afternoon. The Lady Bears were inches away from being the third AAC school to take a set away from the Eagles, (11-25, 23-25, 26-28).

TMU finished the season 13-20, 8-10 AAC qualifying them for the conference tournament for the second time in school history.

Despite dropping the first set by 14 points, the Lady Bears came back out in the second set with a fight coming in from behind to trail by just one point (23-24) but ultimately fell on a service error.

Nonetheless, TMU carried over the momentum into the third set to create the tightest set of the match. The Lady Bears never trailed by more than three points after point 13 and used a 4-0 run at 22-18 to tie it up. A 3-1 run put the Lady Bears in the lead (26-25) but Reinhardt was capable of finishing the deal to hand TMU their last loss of the 2018 season (26-28).

Overall, TMU earned 16 blocks in comparison to Reinhardt's 10.

The Lady Bears were led by All-Conference first team member
Shayla Smith with 10 kills while
Jordan Henshaw and
Bethany Ross added four apiece. Smith also led with eight blocks while
Abby Maxwell earned four.
Hannah Lee tallied 10 digs while freshman
Carmen Doig followed with nine. Maxwell was also credited with 17 assists.
