CLEVELAND, Ga. (Nov. 20, 2018) – The Truett McConnell University women's basketball team led Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Bluefield College by seven points at halftime but ultimately fell 52-44. The Lady Bears dropped to 2-5, 1-4 AAC on the year while the Rams improved to 4-5, 3-2 AAC.
FIRST HALF LEAD | SECOND HALF LOSS
The Lady Bears earned the first five points of the half after a freshman Re'Tavia Floyd bucket and a senior Sarah Hartshorn 3-pointer. TMU went on to drain two more 3-pointers and a few free throws to complete their most dominating quarter of the night (14-8). The Lady Bears went on to outscore the Rams again in the second quarter to lead at the half (22-15).
However, the Rams came out ready to rally in the second half. The Rams drained a few 3-pointers themselves in the third quarter to get out front outscoring the Lady Bears by 13 points. TMU worked to get back the lead but it proved not enough as Bluefield made nine free throws to fasten their AAC victory over TMU.
LEADERS
Hartshorn led with 16 points, going 4-for-8 from behind the arc. Freshman Camilla Howell followed with nine points, seven rebounds and Floyd added seven points. Sierra Kendall led with 12 rebounds.
